1. What are the details of Lyndon's Occupational Withholding Tax?

Lyndon's Occupational Tax is a .75% wage withholding tax on an employee's gross wage.  The tax must be withheld and remitted by the employer to the Lyndon Treasurer on a quarterly basis each April 30th, July 31st, October 31st, and January 31st.  If a due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or a legal holiday, then the due date advances to the next day that is not a Saturday, Sunday, or legal Holiday.  Lyndon Occupational Tax Ordinance

2. Does Lyndon have a different tax rate for employees that live in and outside of Lyndon or Louisville Metro (a/k/a Jefferson County)?

No.  Lyndon's occupational tax rate is .75% of gross wages for work performed in Lyndon no matter where the employee resides.

3. If I pay occupational tax to Louisville Metro am I required to pay Lyndon's occupational tax?

Yes.  An employee earning a wage within the City of Lyndon is subject to the Lyndon occupational tax AND the Louisville Metro occupational tax.

Employees that work part of the year outside of Lyndon can apply for a tax refund for wages earned outside the city (see Answer to Question No.5).

4. How do I determine if my employees are working within the City of Lyndon and are subject to the business license fee and occupational tax?

Lyndon's city boundary falls within a portion of Louisville Metro (aka, Jefferson County).  To determine if your work location is inside Lyndon use the LOJIC Online Map service link below or contact the City of Lyndon.

Select ‘LOJIC Online’:

  1. Search your street address. If location is found a ‘Push Pin’ icon with a Parcel Report will appear.
  2. Click the ‘g’ button at the bottom of the Parcel Report to obtain a General Information Report.
  3. The 'General Geographic Information' detail will appear on the right hand side of listing the 'City'.
  4. If your location is within Lyndon's city boundary it will read ‘City: Lyndon’.

5. Can I get a refund of occupational tax I paid on wages for work that was NOT performed in Lyndon?

Yes.  Employees can file a claim for a tax refund on the portion of occupational tax paid for wages earned outside of Lyndon at the end of the tax year.  To submit a refund claim please complete and sign before a notary the Application For Employee Annual Of Occupational Taxes Withheld.  The form is located on the city website:  City of Lyndon under the "Forms" tab, Refund Request Application.

6. What if I missed the tax return filing deadline? Will late payments be charged penalty and interest?

Yes.  Penalty and interest can be assessed for late filing and unpaid taxes.  Section 110.99 of the ordinance can be found on our website.

7. Are any persons exempt from the occupational tax?

There are no exemptions for the Lyndon Occupational tax.  The tax applies to all employees' gross wages earned in Lyndon.

8.  Do I also need to obtain a business license?

Yes.  You will need to register for a Business License.

9. What is the cost of a business license?

The annual fee is $100 for those businesses who have an office located in Lyndon.

10. What types of payments are accepted online?

We accept VISA, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and ACH Debit or e-check.  There are convenience fees of 3.2% for credit card payments.

11. What types of assistance can GovOS provide?

12. Where are my tax forms? My Action Center is empty.

Your tax forms will be available on the 1st day of the month following the last day of the tax period.  If you do not see the forms you expected, simply contact GovOS Support for assistance.

13. How do I amend a return?

Please email revenue@cityoflyndon.org letting us know you need to file an amended return.  In the email please include:

  1. What city the amendment is for, along with your six-digit license/account number, and business owner name.
  2. Period you need to amend (e.g., Quarter ending March 31, 2025 return due April 30th).
  3. If you overpaid or underpaid your original return.
  4. Brief explanation as to why the return needs to be amended.

Once we receive this email we will review your account and send further instructions.

14. Can I file a Zero-File tax return through GovOS?

To file a zero file tax return, select your tax form from the Action Center. Then, complete the required information on the remittance. You will be prompted to confirm your desire to complete the return as a Zero File return.

15. Can I manage multiple businesses with one login?

Yes, to do so, click Add Accounts from your user login under Manager Your Account(s). You will need your 6 digit Account Number and the GovOS Activation Code to connect to an existing business record.

16. Can a business have more than one user?

Yes, each business can have an unlimited number of users.  Each user is required to provide the 6 digit Account Number and the GovOS Activation Code to be authorized to connect to an existing business record. 

17. I need to close my account. Who do I contact? 

You can request to close your account through the GovOS Site. 

Please log into your account at https://lyndonky.munirevs.com/business-center/. Under the "Manage Your Account(s)" section, please select the account you would like to close. On the next page, please click the link for the "Business Closure Request" form. Please fill out the requested information on the form. Once complete, click the "Submit" button on the bottom right corner. After submission, the form will be sent to the City to review your closure request and inactivate the account.

18. I did not receive or I misplaced the letter with my activation code.  What do I do?

Contact GovOS support at blt.str.support@govos.com or (888) 751-1911. You will need to confirm account details to be verified for the account. To protect the security on property accounts, you will need written (email) permission from a registered owner or officer of the property for us to provide you with a new activation code.

19. Can I schedule a payment in GovOS?

For your security, GovOS does not store any payment information in the system. You will need to enter your desired payment information each time you check out.

20. I forgot my password.  What do I do?

From the Log In page, click the 'Forgot your password' link and follow the instructions that will be emailed to the User's registered email address.

21. Do I have to login to GovOS to see my alerts and reminders?

No.  All alerts are emailed to your authenticated email address.  When you login to the system, you will also see any open alerts that need to be addressed in your Action Center.
